Gansbaai
Gansbaai is a Dutch or Afrikaans word for "bay of geese," sometimes also referred to as - Gans Bay or Gangs Bay. Gansbaai is a fishing village and a very popular tourist attraction in the Overberg District Municipality, Western Cape, South Africa. It is very well known for its dense population of great white sharks and is also a whale-watching location.
Shark Cage Diving with Great White Sharks is the main tourist attraction in Gansbaai since approximately 1995. It has been said that the Shark Cage Diving industry in Gansbaai, attracts the highest number of Tourists in South Africa after the Kruger National Park, for any singular activity. The popularity of white shark cage diving Gansbaai has been increasing at a rapid pace for several years.
Dyer Island, Geyser Rock and Shark Alley
The original name of Dyer Island is Ilha da Fera translated -Island of wild creatures, which was named by Portuguese seafarers in the 15th century.
Dyer Island is the largest of a group of islands about 8 km (5 miles) offshore from Gansbaai and not very far from Danger Point peninsula. The Island is named after Samson Dyer, an immigrant from the USA that came to the Cape Colony in 1806. He lived on the island collecting guano, which he then sold to the mainlanders as fertilizer. The island is home to a declining colony of Jackass Penguins formally known as African penguins (A count of 5000 Penguins in 2015).
Geyser Rock is a smaller island and is home to about 60,000 Cape fur seals.
The shallow channel that lies between these two islands is known as "Shark Alley".
Dyer Island is a declared nature reserve and cannot be accessed by the general public, but can be seen by going on Great White Shark Experience or a Whale Watching Trips

Family Friendly
All Children are welcome to go Shark Cage Diving / Boat-based Great White Shark Watching as long as they are accompanied by Adults. No children 12 and under are allowed in the Cage.
Where is Gansbaai?
Gansbaai is a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from Cape Town City Centre.
Season
The Great White Sharks are in South Africa 365 days of the year. Peak Season is from June to end of August.
Professional Guide
The friendly staffs on the boat are all qualified guides and the boat is skippered by a very experienced qualified Skipper and a paramedic on board. It is being done to make our shark cage diving trips Gansbaai extremely safe.

This is an understatement, to say the least. Imagine getting a Great White Shark looking at you with its gaping jaws open in front of you or a Great White Shark Breaching. Definitely bring a Camera and Go Pro. Drones are allowed subject to prior arrangements.

All trips are weather dependent and can be CANCELLED at a moment's notice. Your safety comes 1st and foremost.
What time must I arrive for my trip?
You will receive an SMS the day before to inform you exactly what time you need to be at the Shark Office for your Great White Shark Experience. Please ensure you arrive 1 hour before the Shark Boat departs.
What times are available?
You can book either an Early Morning Trip or an afternoon trip. Exact Departure times vary due to the different tides and weather conditions.

All are welcome to join this AMAZING and best shark diving Gansbaai experience. Prior arrangements must be made if you would like to go inside the cage. This is subject to certain conditions as to the severity of the disability and if the Guest can be controlled SAFELY inside the cage. Otherwise, the view from the boat is JUST as amazing to see Great White Sharks.

TRIP ITINERARY
See below details of what you can expect on the day of your Shark Cage Diving Experience.
Please arrive at the Office 1 hour before your Great White Shark Experience Departs.
You can pay by Cash or Credit Card on Arrival. We do require your Credit Card details to secure your booking. Your, Credit Card, will not be debited. It is only for security purposes in the event of 'NO SHOWS'.
After you arrive you will have a brief orientation of what you can expect on your Trip
You will be served with a small Continental Breakfast or light Lunch while orientation takes place.
You will be escorted to the Harbor where you will board the Shark Boat for launching.
There is a 15 - 20-minute boat ride to the island before the boat anchors to lower the Shark Cage.
The Skipper will anchor the boat and the friendly staff will lower the Cage into the sea while guests get into their wetsuit (Advisable to wear your costume underneath your clothes before getting on the boat) that is provided before getting inside the Cage. For those that do not want to get in the cage, the viewing is just as good from the boat.
You will have an opportunity to enter the cage for 15 - 20 minutes at a time where you will be rotated so everyone that would like to enter the cage may get a chance to do so. For the others that do not get inside the cage, they can view everything from the boat as this is just as good on the boat. You will be out on the sea for about 3 - 4 hours.
After you have had an AMAZING experience with Great White Sharks, you will return to the Harbour and to the office, where you can freshen up and watch a video of your Trip, which you can purchase, while having some tea, coffee, and some snacks to warm you up before you make your way to the next adventure in South Africa.
